Health Benefits of Green Tea

Another common question asked by a variety of different people is: why don’t other Chinese teas have the same amount of benefits as green tea?  The answer lies within the way that they are prepared after being harvested from the plant that they are derived from.  Green tea, oolong tea, and black tea are all derived from the Camellia sinensis plant.  During harvesting, the green tea leaves are steamed whereas the oolong teas and black teas are prepared differently.  Applying steam to the leaves is what helps to prevent them from oxidizing which is what keeps all of the healthy nutrients within the leaves.  Black teas and oolong teas are derived from fermented leaves.  This leads to EGCG having the ability to get converted into a variety of different compounds that help to fight a variety of different diseases.

In order to obtain the most amount of benefits from the green tea, there are specific instructions that should be followed in order to ensure that you gather all of the essential nutrients.

Step 1: One tea bag or 2-4 g of tea should be used per cup.

Step 2: Fill the kettle with water and bring it to a deep boil.

Step 3: Once the water has boiled, let it sit for at least 3 minutes.

Step 4: Pour the hot water into the cup and allow the tea to steep between 3 and 10 minutes.

Step 5: Allow the tea to cool down for a longer period of time in order to prevent potential burning.
